This is the second nomination this season for playmaker Wirtz who won the award for the month of October 2023. The two wing-backs Grimaldo and Frimpong are in the vote for the third time in the current campaign.
Bayer 04 fans can cast their vote up to Sunday 14 January at 23.59 CET. The other nominations alongside the Leverkusen trio are Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), Xavi Simons and Lois Openda (both RB Leipzig). The final result is made up as follows: 40% the votes come from fans with 30% each from the 18 team captains plus a panel of pundits.
Under the motto ‘Sound of Dreams - #aCROSS Europe 2025/26’, Bayer 04 are turning this season's UEFA Champions League season into a festival. In addition to a Spotify playlist that fans can use to get in the mood for the Champions League nights, there is also a tour pass with stickers for the respective UCL matches exclusively for Bayer 04 Club members. These could be picked up in the respective weeks of the matches. The sticker for the final clash in the league phase (Villarreal, 28 January, 21:00 CET) is now available at the Fanwelt. The Werkself finally won for the first time in 2026, beating Werder Bremen 1-0 on Bundesliga Matchday 19. Lucas Vázquez scored the only goal of the game after 37th minutes with his maiden strike for Bayer 04.
