The video games manufacture Electronic Arts (EA) in association with the German Football League (DFL) recently announced the six nominees in the vote for Bundesliga Player of the Month of October. Florian Wirtz came out on top against notable opposition with Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong plus Harry Kane, Kingsley Coman, Leroy Sané (all Bayern Munich) and Lois Openda (RB Leipzig) also nominated.
40% of votes came from fans, with 30% each from the 18 team captains plus a panel of pundits.
This award has been presented since the 2018/19 season. The trophy picked up by Wirtz is already the eighth to come to Leverkusen.

It was a match that will live long in the memory of everyone involved: The Bayer 04 U19s celebrated their seventh win in seven matches in the DFB Youth League preliminary round – and yet it was a very special victory indeed: in the 4–3 (1–1) win at VfL Bochum 1848, no fewer than five goals came in the final quarter of an hour.
