Various elements of the city adorn the historic jersey the team led by head coach Xabi Alonso will wear with pride in going into the forthcoming 2024/25 campaign: the diamonds from the water tower, a cross made up from the embattled bar on the coat of arms and parts of the city map of Leverkusen.
The jersey has a unisex cut and is an essential as the first official team shirt with the champions badge. The Bayer 04 logo stands out on the left side on the chest in red and the logo of the top British kit supplier brand Castore is in white on the right side. The word Werkself in white is also on the collar. The left sleeve has the new partner the Niedax Group and the main sponsor Barmenia is in white on the chest.
"Our new home jersey is unique for our fans for several reasons. It combines striking elements of Leverkusen worked into the design," said Marcus Breglec, chief marketing and innovation officer at Bayer 04. "Our double winners will again wear our USP, the Cross, next season. And for the first time, in our 120th year, the gold champions badge will adorn our sleeve. It's already a legendary jersey."
And midfield maestro Granit Xhaka is also very keen on the new Werkself home kit. "I think the jersey is a great success. It has classic elements with the black sleeves that stand out from the base colour," said the happy Swiss midfielder. "A typical, very traditional football jersey, this time mainly in red. I'm really looking forward to representing my club in these colours in Germany and in the Champions League."
