Puerta ruled out of DFB Cup tie
Bayer 04 will have to manage without Gustavo Puerta for the first competitive match of the season on Saturday in the DFB Cup against FC Teutonia 05 Ottensen.
The Colombian midfielder underwent an operation on Sunday performed by Dr Armin Bauer, the senior consultant at the Marienhospital in Brühl, following a metacarpal fracture suffered at the training camp in Austria at the end of July. The operation was completed without any complications but the 20-year-old Puerto is ruled out for the first round of the DFB Cup against Regional League Ottensen to be played in Hamburg at the Millerntor Stadium.
