News in brief: Vote now for Frimpong as Player of the Month

The video games manufacturer Electronic Arts (EA), in partnership with the DFL, has announced the six nominations for the vote for Bundesliga Player of the Month in November – that includes Jeremie Frimpong. Also in Wednesday's news in brief: Rudi Völler on TV and famous Bayer 04 birthday boys.

Jeremie Frimpong is in the vote for November Player of the Month. The Bayer 04 wing-back has started every Bundesliga match of the month and won all of the Werkself Bundesliga matches in November. The 21-year-old is currently at the World Cup with the Netherlands. You can vote for our number 30 HERE.

The other nominees alongside Frimpong are Christopher Nkunku and Dominik Szoboszlai (both RB Leipzig), Serge Gnabry (Bayern Munich), Christoph Baumgartner (TSG Hoffenheim) and Jonas Hofmann (Borussia Mönchengladbach).

The result will be determined as follows: 40% of the votes come from fans with 30% from the 18 team captains plus a group of pundits.

Völler on 3nach9

 

Rudi Völler, former sporting managing director and now member of the shareholders committee at Bayer 04, is a guest on the 3nach9 talk show on Friday night (25 November). The show will be broadcast on NDR from 22.00 CET. The two presenters Judith Rakers and Giovanni di Lorenzo will welcome Rudi Völler and the singer Sarah Connor plus the actors Sky du Mont and Hannes Jaenicke.

congratulations to Calli and Co.

Reiner Calmund, one of the most important members of management in the history of Bayer 04, is 74 today (Wednesday). Calli worked in the management of the Werkself from 1976 to 2004 and today he is active as a TV pundit and author. Many happy returns, Calli.

Keld Bordinggaard also celebrates his birthday today. The Dane has been Head of Coaching at the Werkself Performance Centre since March 2021. Many happy returns to you too, Keld.

Theo Kirchberg was also born on 23 November in 1920. The right winger joined Bayer 04 at the age of 28. In the following 23 years Kirchberg developed into one of the really big personalities as a player and coach in the long history of the Werkself. He remained closely attached to his club as a fan and spectator at the stadium up to his death on 7 February 2014. Not just today, but particularly so, we think of you, Theo.

Bayer 04 donates €2,500 to Leverkusen Women's Helpline

The 1,193 spectators who attended the Ulrich-Haberland-Stadion for the Werkself's 2-2 draw at home to Eintracht Frankfurt on Matchday 2 of the Google Pixel Women's Bundesliga also supported a good cause. As part of the DFB's 'Together: Good Game' action day on the theme of sustainability, Bayer 04 donated two euros from every ticket sold to the Leverkusen Women's Helpline.
