
Day two for the Werkself players in brilliant sunshine started on training pitch 1. There were no changes from yesterday's group. Once again in the 19-man squad: youth players Ayman Aourir, Christian Schwieren, Noah Pesch, Ingyom Jung, Jardell Kanga and goalkeeper Maximilian Neutgens plus returning loan players Ayman Azhil (RKC Waalwijk/Netherlands), Mitchell Weiser (Werder Bremen) and U19 new signing Madi Monamay. With lots of fans watching, the Werkself followed the warm-up routine with different passing drills.








After 75 minutes working with the ball, the players moved inside the BayArena in the afternoon. The coaches and fitness team presented Robert Andrich, Karim Bellarabi and Co. with a range of physical exercises – and it was hard work: A comprehensive whole-body workout for stomach, chest, stability, explosive force plus work on TRX bands and kettle bells left no muscle unused.







Tomorrow's session and training on Thursday afternoon will be held inside the BayArena. The other sessions on Thursday, Friday and, Saturday morning will be on the pitch at the BayArena at 10.30 CET and are open to fans.

The Bayer 04 Women's team players Sofie Zdebel and Clara Fröhlich have started the European Championships in the Czech Republic with the Germany U19 team. The team under Kathrin Peter lost 2-0 to Sweden in their first match in the tournament. Defender Clara Fröhlich played the full 90 minutes, teammate Sofie Zdebel came on for Mia Büchele on 69 minutes.
Fröhlich and Co. will play Norway in their second match in Group B on Thursday 30 June. The kick-off is at 15.00 CEST. All matches will be broadcast via a live stream on uefa.tv.
The athletes of TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen picked up an impressive 17 medals in the 2022 finals in Berlin in fencing and athletics.
Gold medals in the German athletics championships were won by Mateusz Przybylko, Bianca Stichling (both high jump), Marlene Meier (100 m hurdles) and Bo Kanda Lita Baehre (pole vault). Silver went to Tim Eikermann (110 m hurdles), Judith Franzen (400 m), Michelle Döpke (hammer) and Kristin Gierisch (triple jump). And bronze medals were won by Carolin Paesler (hammer), Torben Blech (pole vault), Franziska Schuster (100 m hurdles) and Dana Bergrath (javelin).
Laura Wetzker (women's individual épée) picked up the gold medal in the German Championships in fencing. Alexandra Ehrler won silver also in the women's individual épée. Bronze went to Alexandra Ndolo plus Lara Goldmann as there is no third-place final in fencing. In the women's épée team event there was gold for Alexandra Ehler, Alexandra Ndolo, Lara Goldmann and Riccarda Multerer, and Marko Brinkmann won bronze in the men's individual épée. Congratulations.
Here we go again! The Werkself play MSV Duisburg at the IMS Arena in Velbert on Saturday 9 July (kick-off: 15.30 CEST/stadium opens: 13.30 CEST). All seats in the Bayer 04 section for the game against the third division side have been sold. Standing tickets costing nine euros (concessions seven euros) can be bought up to noon CEST on Wednesday 29 June. The match tickets are only available as physical tickets and will be sent out by Bayer 04 in time for the game. Tickets cannot be collected from the fan shops.
Ramazan ‘Rambo’ Özcan joined the Werkself in the summer of 2016 And he went on to play eight games for Bayer 04 in the following four years. After hanging up his boots, the Austrian keeper was a goalkeeping coach at the Kurtekotten Performance Centre for a season before moving on to the same role with the Leverkusen U19 team. Rambo today (Tuesday) celebrates his 38th birthday.
Also celebrating their birthdays are former Werkself players Demarai Gray and Hans Sarpei. Grey, who played for Bayer 04 in the second half of the 2020/21 season and is now at Everton in the Premier League, is 26. Sarpei, who no longer plays professional football, celebrates his 46th birthday. Many happy returns to one and all.

The meeting between fifth and sixth on Saturday afternoon (17 January, 15:30 CET) is a hard one to predict. While the Werkself can take confidence from their historic record at TSG Hoffenheim, the hosts are currently enjoying their second-best Bundesliga campaign and have lost just one of their last 10 games. Another good omen for Bayer 04: Daniel Schlager also refereed Leverkusen's last victory in Sinsheim (4-1). The Matchday News.

At the end of the winter training camp in Portugal, the Bayer 04 Women convincingly mastered their friendly ahead of the start of the second half of the season. In the match against Swiss league leaders Servette FCCF, coach Roberto Pätzold's team won 3-0 at the Monte Gordo Sports Complex. Carlotta Wamser (4’), Vanessa Fudalla (18’) and Loreen Bender (53’) scored for Bayer 04, who have been preparing for the Rückrunde in the Algarve since last Saturday.

The German Football League (DFL) has rescheduled the postponed fixture at Hamburger SV on Bundesliga matchday 17. The match, due to be played on Tuesday, has now been rescheduled for Wednesday, 4 March (kick-off: 20:30 CET).

The Rückrunde is about to begin: The Werkself travel to TSG Hoffenheim on Saturday, 17 January (kick-off: 15:30 CET) on Bundesliga matchday 18. At the pre-match press conference on Friday lunchtime, head coach Kasper Hjulmand emphasised the double anticipation for the clash following Tuesday's postponement of the fixture at Hamburger SV. And he also talked about the tactical approach against an opponent on course for Champions League qualification.
