
On the podium: Moussa Diaby has made it into third place in the vote for Player of the Season – congratulations. The young Frenchman has been rewarded by the Bayer 04 fans for an impressive season. The Werkself number 19 made 42 appearances for the Black and Reds last term. The left-footer played 32 games in the Bundesliga and scored an impressive 13 goals and provided 12 assists. A record-breaking number of assists – never before has a Leverkusen player provided as many in a season.

The Black and Reds will take part in a recycling campaign in partnership with JAKO on Friday 17 June. Old shirts of whatever type can be handed in this week at the Bayer 04 Fan shops in Wiesdorf and at the BayArena. As a thank you all participants will receive a discount voucher for the Jako online shop to the value of 25%. Under the heading 'Recycled polyester' the highlight is on sustainable recycling management in textile production.
JAKO will deliver the second hand clothes to a start-up company in Aachen that produces new textile granulate in a new recycling process thereby creating the basis for producing new sports clothing.
The Bayer 04 Women's team scored 16 goals in the cup last season. Whether they came from the penalty spot, in one-on-ones with the opposition keeper or with a tap-in, the team under head coach Achim Feifel showed strong nerves. The most prolific cup goalscorer for the Black and Reds was Dora Zeller with seven goals in four matches. After two years in the amateur game, the Werkself returned to professional football 47 years ago. Promotion to Bundesliga 2 North was achieved on 15 June 1975. A 3-2 win against Arminia Hannover in front of 10,000 spectators secured promotion to Germany's second tier. As the reigning champions of the Middle Rhine League in 1974/75, the team under head coach Manfred Rummel not only played the team from Lower Saxony but also had to go through against Union Solingen over two legs in promotion play-offs. The Black and Reds won three of the four games to progress to the second division. Promotion to the Bundesliga came four years later in 1979.
Werkself player Robert Andrich is married. The Bayer 04 number eight said yes to his wife Alicia last Sunday 12 June. The couple dressed completely in white celebrated the big day with their guests. Many congratulations and all the best for the future.
