Following his Man of the match performance in the DFB Pokal, his Player of the match award in the Champions League and his brace in the Bundesliga, the young Algerian has now been named the best young footballer in his home country. "It's an honour for me. Many thanks to my father, my mother and my family. They have always helped me a lot," he said in his acceptance speech.
In addition to scoring three goals in 14 games for Bayer 04, Ibrahim Maza has already made six appearances for Algeria, who have already qualified for the 2026 World Cup finals.
Bayer 04 midfielder Ibrahim Maza was honoured in Paris in the Best Algerian Young Player category at the Fennec d'Or awards for the Algerian Footballer of the Year, organised for the first time by the football journal La Gazette du Fennec. What a performance! The Werkself not only secured three more important points in the Bundesliga against 1. FC Heidenheim 1846, but also gave their fans at the BayArena a historic home win with great gusto and hunger for goals. Only twice before have Bayer 04 won a home match by a six-goal margin in the German top flight (7-1 against Greuther Fürth and 6-0 against Kaiserslautern). Just in time for its 30th anniversary, the Lions Club is getting a new patron: Bayer 04 goalkeeper Mark Flekken is taking over the role from Lukas Hradecky, who showed great commitment and passion for the youngest Werkself fans in recent years. The Dutchman, who is himself the father of two daughters, will accompany Lions Club events and activities and be a role model for the children with his warm and positive manner.
