Spain international Grimaldo had put the Werkself ahead on the 23rd minute of their 4-0 win over Union with a curling left-footed effort from the left corner of the box. Striker Wieder had come off the bench to snatch a point for the Women’s team against promoted Leipzig with an overhead kick three minutes into added time.
The other nominees alongside the Leverkusen pair are Vanessa Fudalla (RB Leipzig), Manolis Saliakas (St. Pauli) and Charles Herrmann (Germany U17s). The October award had gone to Florian Wirtz with 45 percent of the votes, making it the 17th Goal of the Month winner for a Bayer 04 player. Bayer 04 are away to third-division club SV Wehen Wiesbaden in the first round of the 2026/27 DFB Pokal. That was the outcome of the draw on Saturday night, 6 June, at the German Football Museum in Dortmund. The Werkself first round tie will be played between 21 and 24 August.
