Wirtz scored on 36 minutes against Freiburg with an impressive dribble in the SCF penalty area where he beat several opponents before slotting the ball into the far corner.
Also in the vote in addition to Wirtz and Kane were Fabien Schleusener (Karlsruher SC), Antonia Halverkamps (MSV Duisburg) and Florent Muslija (SC Paderborn 07).

This is the 17th Goal of the Month for Bayer 04. The last one before Wirtz was scored by Nadiem Amiri in January 2021 and the first time the award went to Bayer 04 was for a strike by Dietmar Demuth in February 1980. A best of the Goals of the Month under the Cross is HERE.

After being nominated for the Bundesliga Goal of the Year 2025, Martin Terrier's wonderful strike for the opener against FC Köln is now also up for selection for the ARD Sportschau Goal of the Month award for December 2025. Bayer 04 fans have until 19:00 CET on 10 January to vote for the French forward.
