After returning from the training camp in Salzburger Land, the team under head coach Gerardo Seoane have two pre-season friendlies. The Werkself matches against FC Utrecht (28 July) and Celta Vigo (31 July), both of which will be played at the Ulrich Haberland Stadium, will benefit flood relief. Werkself fans can watch the two games for five euros each with 400 tickets available per game. Tickets for the match against FC Utrecht are available from the Bayer 04 Service Centre from 10.00 CEST on Monday, 26 July. Tickets for the game against Celta Vigo go on sale on Tuesday, 27 July, also at 10.00 CEST.
Proceeds will go directly to the community foundation of the City of Leverkusen, which Bayer 04 have supported for several years.
Lukas Hradecky, first-choice goalkeeper at the Werkself, also wants to give the victims of the flood disaster a helping hand. The Finn said in an interview with Bild: "We'll discuss what we can do within the team and the players committee. In addition to possible financial donations it is also about us going there and getting involved where help is needed."
On Tuesday, over 50 people, including numerous Werkself supporters, came to the Lindenhof youth club. They helped with the disposal of furniture and clean-up operations.
And on Wednesday a large number of Bayer 04 fans and members of staff again helped people affected and organisations. This time it was the Wildpark Reuschenberg. That also involved clean-up work with brooms, shovels etc.
In addition, fans and the Bayer 04 fan liaison team have collected working washing machines and put them in a garage in Opladen that has water and electricity. People affected from Leverkusen and surroundings, who have no access to a washing machine, can easily get their clothing cleaned there. If you can donate a washing machine, please send an email to fanbetreuung@bayer04.de or hilfe@ultras-leverkusen.de.
Next Tuesday, 27 July (kick-off: 18.00 CEST), the Bayer 04 Veterans team will be playing a benefit match at Wiedbachtaler Sportfreunden Neitersen. The match will be played at the 'Auf der Emma' sports ground in Neitersen.
In addition to the match against the Sportfreunde, the Veterans will also play in Leichlingen. The sports ground has also been seriously affected by the floods. Further information on the date of the match and the opponents will follow.
Victims of the floods from Leverkusen and its surroundings are also receiving great support from Dresden. Heiko Scholz, Ulf Kirsten and the current Dresden player Robin Becker, all former Bayer 04 players, and many others from Dresden have already donated to the community foundation of the City of Leverkusen.
In 2002, the people of Dresden received great support from Leverkusen in response to the Elbe floods. That involved the Werkself playing a benefit match against Dynamo Dresden. Back then, 28,000 spectators came to the Rudolf Harbig Stadium.
Information on local measures in Leverkusen and its surroundings are available via phone on the citizens hotline of the City of Leverkusen: (0214) 406 3333.
