
Here is an overview of the news and events.
Aid workers have been in action non-stop in and around Leverkusen. There is massive solidarity in the region. Under the A1 autobahn – in close proximity to the BayArena – the City of Leverkusen has set up a vehicle storage area. On the area used as a car park on matchdays, cars damaged by the flood are stored for insurance claim assessment.
The support of Werkself fans and Bayer 04 is diverse. Clothes donations are delivered using club vehicles as are drinks and food. Aid workers and people needing help are brought together via club social media channels. A number of people affected by the floods have also been given accommodation in homes of Bayer 04 supporters.
On Monday, the shareholders of Bayer 04, Bayer AG announced a donation of €600,000 to flood victims in the region – including €50,000 to the community foundation of the City of Leverkusen. The institution has been supported by Bayer 04 for years. The regular volume of donations has been increased against the background of the flood disaster. The money goes to the ‘Leverkusen hilft!’ campaign to mainly support sports facilities in and around Leverkusen damaged by the floods.

veterans team play benefit match
The Bayer 04 Veterans team is also getting involved with a benefit match against Wiedbachtaler Sportfreunden Neitersen. The game is on Tuesday, 27 July, at 18.00 CEST at the ‘Auf der Emma’ sports ground. Peter Hermann and Jürgen Gelsdorf will be with Bayer 04 in Neitersen.
The Bayer 04 fan liaison team is calling for support at the Lindenhof youth club. The facility, a few hundred metres away from the BayArena, still need lots of helping hands for clean-up operations. This starts on Tuesday, 20 July, at 13.00 CEST at Weiherstraße 49, 51373 Leverkusen.
n spite of the flood disaster, vaccinations are still being given out in and around Leverkusen. The vaccination event at the BayArena still goes ahead. Interested persons, yet to have a first vaccination, can come to the BayArena on Thursday, 22 July from 15.30 CEST. Vaccinations are available up to 20.00 CEST. The vaccine used is Comirnaty® from BioNTech/Pfizer and appointments are not required. HERE is further information.
The Bayer 04 players have also been affected by the images of the flood but also impressed by the solidarity in and around Leverkusen. Using video messages, Lukas Hradecky, Jonathan Tah, Kerem Demirbay and Co. have made contact from the training camp in Salzburger Land.

Werkself player Montrell Culbreath and Bayer 04 loanee Francis Onyeka are part of Germany's final squad for the U19 European Championships this summer. The tournament is in Wales from 24 June to 12 July.

Bayer 04 are away to third-division club SV Wehen Wiesbaden in the first round of the 2026/27 DFB Pokal. That was the outcome of the draw on Saturday night, 6 June, at the German Football Museum in Dortmund. The Werkself first round tie will be played between 21 and 24 August. The exact date has yet to be finalised.
