Bayer 04 extend contract with Amine Adli to 2028

Bayer 04 Leverkusen have agreed a contract extension with Morocco international Amine Adli. The 24-year-old, currently sidelined with a broken leg from the game against Stade Brest in the Champions League in October, has signed a new contract at Leverkusen extending his stay to 30 June 2028. The speedy forward originally had a contract with the Germany double winners to the summer of 2026.
Simon Rolfes und Amine Adli

"We signed Amine Adli in 2021 as a big talent from the second division in France. As hoped and expected by us, he has now developed into a top player in the Bundesliga," said Bayer 04 sporting managing director Simon Rolfes in assessing the progress of the 1.78 metre tall striker. "Amine has a great influence on our game but he has also made a significant contribution to the success of Bayer 04 as an important factor within the dressing room. We are happy that we can build on his sporting and personal qualities in future."

The tricky, agile and fast left footer showed himself to be happy with the extension of his contract at Leverkusen: "It's a great pleasure for me to be able to carry on the path I've taken at Bayer 04," said Adli. "We have a special team spirit in the dressing room, on the pitch and with our fans. My expectations have been more than fulfilled and I'll give my all for us to achieve great things in the future and be able to win titles. I'm proud of wearing the club jersey."

Adli signed for Bayer 04 from the French second division club FC Toulouse two and a half years ago. Since then he has played 126 games the Werkself scoring 21 goals and providing 22 assists.

Season review 2025/26, part II: Highs and lows of an eventful season

Lying third in the Bundesliga, the Werkself made a faltering start in 2026 after the winter break, but gradually rediscovered winning ways and, as in the previous campaign, were among the top 16 in Europe and the top four in the DFB Pokal. In the Bundesliga, the Werkself also remained in the race for Champions League qualification right to the end. However, because setbacks repeatedly crept into the Werkself's performances between good displays and crucial games, it was not quite enough to secure a UCL spot in the end. A season with many ups and downs brought sixth place and qualification for the UEFA Europa League. Part II of the review of the 2025/26 season.

2025/26 season review, part I: Upheaval, change, euphoria

Following the final match of the 2025/26 season, the prevailing feeling was naturally one of disappointment after missing out on qualification for the Champions League. The Werkself finished the Bundesliga in sixth place, meaning they'll start the 2026/27 campaign in the Europa League. "But to talk negatively about everything now because of that would be wrong," stressed captain Robert Andrich following the final game, knowing that the past year at Bayer 04 was marked, more than almost any other, by the start of a new era and the courage to change – and in particular, the belief in a positive direction. Everyone was aware this process would need time. The first part of the 2025/26 season review.
