Fan club awards and Christmas carols: The ‘Festival of Friends’ in 2022
It was a successful conclusion to the year of football at Bayer 04 in 2022: The Christmas programme of events accompanying the 4-1 friendly win against FC Zürich at the Ulrich Haberland Stadium on Saturday 17 December proved to be very popular with the 3,000 plus Werkself fans present. The highlights at this year’s ‘Festival of Friends’ included fan club awards at half-time, exclusive activities for members of the Löwen, Teens and Bayer 04 clubs after the game plus Christmas carols to round off the day.

Werkself beat FC Zürich 4-1 in final friendly before Christmas
The Werkself secured a 4-1 win against FC Zürich in their last friendly in 2022. The goals against the Swiss champions were scored in the first half by Moussa Diaby (38') and Florian Wirtz (45') who was in the starting line-up for the first time since returning from injury. The lead was extended in the second half, first by Sardar Azmoun making it 3-0 (63') with Zürich’s Cheick Condé pulling a goal back at 3-1 a minute later. Amine Adli rounded off the scoring at 4-1 with a lob on 86 minutes.
