Werkself fail to tame Mainz in 3-1 defeat

Bayer 04 took a deserved lead on 21 minutes with a strike from Dominik Kohr – but the afternoon in Mainz took a decisive turn for the worse for Leverkusen. The hosts levelled just before the break with a goal from Muto and FSV turned the game round after half-time with Diallo (57') and Serdar (71') finding the back of the net.

Training ground fills up – Retsos faces the press

The training ground is getting busier. Ahead of the Bundesliga match at FSV Mainz 05, most of the internationals rejoined the Werkself training sessions on Wednesday morning. Joel Pohjanpalo returned after recovering from a muscle injury and joined in with the session alongside Lucas Alario, who is not as yet entitled to play. Jonathan Tah completed a one-to-one session with fitness coach Daniel Jouvin following his recent knee injury.
