After ten away games unbeaten in succession, the Werkself had to accept defeat again on the road on Sunday: In the penultimate fixture of the last matchday before the Easter international break, Bayer 04 lost 2-0 in the derby against local rivals FC Köln - with the Berliner Kurier calling it "the upset of matchday 27 in the Bundesliga." No derby joy for the Werkself

Bayer 04 did not have a good day in the derby against FC Köln. The Werkself, reduced to ten men on 32 minutes with the dismissal of Lucas Alario, suffered a 2-0 defeat at the RheinEnergie Stadium. Yuya Osako (9') and Simon Zoller (69') scored for the hosts to secure a deserved victory. The defeat takes Bayer 04 down to fifth place in the Bundesliga.

Bundesliga balls will not be needed for two weeks starting on Monday. However, before the international break kicks in for Easter, this weekend sees the battle continue for vital points at both ends of the table. From a Werkself perspective, it is nothing less than the derby against FC Köln. On Sunday (18 March 15.30 CET) Bayer 04 travel the 15 kilometres to the neighbours on the other side of the Rhine.
