A Black and Red homegrown player: Emrehan Gedikli started at Kurtekotten with the U8s. Since then, the central striker has progressed through all the youth teams at Bayer 04. In the curtailed 2019/20 season, Gedikli was playing for the U17s in the U17 Bundesliga and he became top goalscorer in the West section with 17 goals in 20 games. That marksmanship drew him to the attention of head coach Peter Bosz. The Dutchman called up the youth player, who is also completing his education as a sports and fitness executive at Bayer 04, to the senior squad for the first time in the middle of October. Gedikli made his debut in the first team on 26 November 2020 in the 4-1 home win against Hapoel Be'er Sheva in the Europa League.
