In the current Bundesliga campaign, Patrik Schick has scored three goals and provided one assist in 14 games to date. The 27-year-old, who scored 24 goals in 27 league games last season, is currently sidelined with a groin injury.
Schick’s Werkself teammate Adam Hlozek finished in fifth place in this year’s rankings behind West Ham United player Tomas Soucek. The 20-year-old striker, who joined Bayer 04 from Sparta Prague before the start of the season, has scored four goals and provided four assists in 22 league games. Before his move to the Bundesliga, Hlozek was the youngest goalscorer in the history of the Czech Fortuna Liga with the Prague club at the age of 16 years, seven months and 15 days.
The rankings were decided by a committee that included coaches from the Czech top-flight clubs, plus experienced international players, members of the media and club officials from Czechia.

A nerve-wracking start to Europe's premier club competition! On Matchday 1 of the group stage of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League, the Werkself drew 2-2 (0-1) with Danish record champions FC Copenhagen. After an early goal from Jordan Larsson (9'), the Werkself equalised late on with another direct free kick from Alejandro Grimaldo (82'). The hosts responded just four minutes later with a goal that put them 2-1 up. But Leverkusen refused to give up and, within five minutes, Pantelis Hatzidiakos was forced into scoring an own goal (90+1) to make it 2-2, which is how the game ended.

Opening victory in the 2025/26 UEFA Youth League! Bayer 04 won 2-0 (1-0) at FC Copenhagen on Matchday 1 of the international youth competition. Emmanuel Chigozie Owen scored both goals of the game for a clinical Werkself in front of 452 spectators at Tingbjerg Idrætspark.
