A Finn called ‘spider’: In his time at Bayer 04, Lukas Hradecky has lived up to the nickname he acquired at Eintracht Frankfurt. The keeper with Slovakian roots is the undisputed number one – with particular strength in one-on-ones when he denies chances with his long arms and legs. The shot stopper is always good for a quick quip because "nothing happens with me without fun." Hradecky is also nimble-fingered on the piano and he perfectly played the romantic Titanic number, "My heart will go on" at the winter training camp in 2020: "I learned it on YouTube – also as a surprise for women."

Against violence against women: Tah, Hradecky, Hofmann, Ostermeier and Voll speak out
On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls, Bayer 04 again joins in with the Orange Your City campaign. On Monday, 25 November, the BayArena will be lit up in orange between 17.00 and 22.00 CET. It is traditional on this day to have other significant buildings in Leverkusen lit up in orange.

Hradecky and Stanisic read new Bayer 04 children’s book
Bayer 04 aren’t just the new champions of Germany but are also leading the way in engaging young fans after becoming the first Bundesliga club to release its own Pixi children’s book. Captain Lukas Hradecky and Josip Stanisic presented the 24-page publication entitled ‘Ein neuer Löwe für die Werkself’ (A new lion for the Werkself) at a reading for children in the BayArena's Schwadbud.

Eight Werkself stars nominated for Team of the Season
The German Football League (DFL) has launched the vote for the Bundesliga Team of the Season. As of now, fans of the Werkself can select no fewer than eight Bayer 04 players in the top XI of the 2023/24 campaign: on the shortlist are Lukas Hradecky, Jonathan Tah, Jeremie Frimpong, Alejandro Grimaldo, Granit Xhaka, Exequiel Palacios, Florian Wirtz and Victor Boniface. Voting closes on Monday 22 April at 9:00 CEST.

Hradecky on Christmas in Finland: 'Potatoes and onions from Santa'
Like many Werkself players, Lukas Hradecky is heading home for the holidays - to Finland. The captain is not only drawn to the high, snowy north, but also to the "home country" of Santa Claus.
