To say a lot more about him after last season would be like carrying coals to Newcastle. That the Bundesliga pros voted him the 'Outfield Player of the Season' in the traditional Kicker survey, says everything about the huge appreciation for Havertz felt by both his team-mates and rivals. Kai reminds Rudi Völler of a "combination of Michael Ballack and Mesut Özil," because he doesn't know anybody else who combines ruggedness, heading ability and a goal threat plus elegance and fluency. Havertz scored 11 of his 17 goals last term in the second half of the season – each time it was the opening goal for Bayer 04. His pass completion rate was 90% and his top speed of 35.02 kmph was not matched by any other midfielder in the Bundesliga. "Kai was incredibly good, above all in the final phase of the season," said coach Peter Bosz.
