“Ernest Poku is an excellent winger who will make a real impact on our offense with his speed and dribbling skills,” said sporting director Simon Rolfes, explaining the signing of the winger in the summer of 2025. The Dutchman made his debut for his previous club AZ Alkmaar in 2021 and had become an indispensable regular in the league, cup, and Europa League by spring 2024. During the 2025 Under-21 European Championship, the lightning-fast Poku's star finally rose. He played in every game and was instrumental in helping the Oranje reach the semi-finals with two goals.
