What a career: Bernd signed in 2011 from the VfB Stuttgart second team, where he played in the third division. He soon became the number one keeper at Bayer 04. The 24-year-old is one of the best goalkeepers in Germany with his impressive performances for the Werkself propelling him into the national side. He has three full international caps under Jogi Löw. The Werkself keeper has already made 245 appearances for Bayer 04 including 49 European games.
Nearly everybody was back on board at Bayer 04 on Monday 9 September. With the exception of Joel Pohjanpalo, who is joining in with training more day by day, all the remaining Werkself pros took part in full training. News from the first day of the week ahead of the away game at Borussia Dortmund.
