Kristina Sundov – women's assistant coach

Ten years after retiring as a player, Kristina Sundov returned to the Bayer 04 women’s team as an assistant coach in the summer of 2026. The former Croatian national team player succeeded Remzi Kahraman. During the 2015–16 season, Sundov—who had 58 caps for her national team—played in 23 matches for Bayer 04 and scored four goals. She then moved to FC Basel in the Swiss Women’s Super League. There, she played in 150 competitive matches until the end of her playing career in 2023, before taking on the role of assistant coach. In the meantime, she served as interim head coach of the Basel women’s team in the fall of 2025.

“We had very good and open discussions with Kristina. She will enrich our coaching staff not only with her professional expertise but also with her very empathetic nature,” says Achim Feifel, sporting director of the Bayer 04 women’s team: “She has a wealth of practical experience both as a player and as a coach, embarked on her coaching career early on, and has already worked in many different areas within the field.”
