Dr. Stefan Porten – Team doctor

Dr. Stefan Porten earned his medical degree from the University of Cologne and a degree in sports science from the German Sport University Cologne. Between 2011 and 2018, he worked as the team orthopedic physician for the Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach, and subsequently for the U19 and U20 teams of the German Football Association (DFB). He also works with athletes at the NRW/Rhineland Olympic Training Center.

At Bayer 04, Dr. Porten — who maintains a private practice in Cologne as a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and trauma surgeon — has served as team doctor for the men’s professional team since the start of the 2023/24 season.
