Dr. Philipp Ehrenstein – Team doctor

Dr. Philipp Ehrenstein studied medicine at RWTH Aachen University from 1996 to 2002 and completed his dissertation in 2008. During this time, he also spent a year doing clinical rotations at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. While working on his dissertation, the Leverkusen native completed his residency training at RWTH Aachen University and at the Sports Orthopedics Department of Dreifaltigkeitskrankenhaus in Cologne. He completed this training in 2011, and since 2012, Ehrenstein has been practicing as a specialist in orthopedics, trauma surgery, and sports medicine in Düsseldorf. Since 2018, he has also been a partner at the sports medicine practice OrthoPro in Düsseldorf.

At Bayer 04, Dr. Ehrenstein has served as team physician for the men’s first team since the start of the 2015/16 season. Prior to that, he provided medical care for the professional soccer team at Fortuna Düsseldorf as well as the team at the professional ice hockey club DEG.
