U14s march on - home win for U15s
The U14s came through the Youth Cup game against Mönchengladbach unscathed. The U15s made up ground with a home win against Düsseldorf.
U14 Youth Cup: Bayer 04 U14 v Borussia Mönchengladbach 5-1
The U14s built on the success of recent weeks against Borussia Mönchengladbach with two brilliantly-worked early goals from Aaron Tshimuanga (nine') and Janiss Fissl (14').
"The team kept up the pressure and added to the scoreline," said coach Mirko Casper. After Tshimuanga made it 3-0 the visitors did hit back with a fine individual goal for a 3-1/2-time scoreline.
The U14s stuck to their task and in less than eight minutes increase their lead to 5-1 with two goals from Emrehan Gedikli (51', 58'). 43 points from 15 games unbeaten keeps the U14 side clear in first place.
U15 Regional League: Bayer 04 U15 v Fortuna Düsseldorf 3:1
After recent minor setbacks, the U15s were happy to pick up three points again. The team coached by Florian Junge made an impressive start against Düsseldorf and went 2-0 up with an early double from Christopher Scott (7', 15')..
Fortuna fought back in the middle of the second half to score a consolation goal. But Scott restored the two-goal lead for the U15 side with his tenth goal of the season. That was enough to take them up to third place.

Tickets for the friendly fixtures in Nottingham and Newcastle
In mid-August, the Werkself will set off on a four-day trip to England to play their final two friendly matches of the 2026/27 pre-season against Premier League clubs Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United. The match in Nottingham against the Tricky Trees is on Wednesday 12 August at 20:45 CEST (19:45 BST) at the City Ground. U19 European Championship in Wales: Germany, with Culbreath and Onyeka, lose out in final
The Germany U19 team were beaten 2-0 by record champions Spain in the final of the U19 European Championship in Wales. Bayer 04 players Montrell Culbreath and Francis Onyeka (on loan at SV 07 Elversberg) were in the starting line-up and played the full 90 minutes.
