Following last weekend’s play-offs, former Germany international Kerstin Garefrekes, currently assistant coach of the U23 national team, drew the 16 ties at the DFB Campus in Frankfurt am Main. The Berlin side beat Regionalliga West side VfR Warbeyen 3–1 in the play-offs. The draw for the first round proper was conducted using two pots. The 16 winners of the play-off matches placed in Pot 1 are at home. The teams from the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga, along with the two highest-ranked Bundesliga 2 sides, were placed in Pot 2.
The winners of the first round proper go through to the Round of 16 (31 October to 2 November). Following a break of more than four months, the quarter-finals will be played on 10 and 11 March 2027, followed by the semi-finals on 3 and 4 April. As in previous years, the final will be played at the RheinEnergieSTADION in Cologne on 17 May 2027.
For the Werkself, the new Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga season kicks off on Sunday, 23 August (16:00 CEST), with an away match against RB Leipzig. The first home fixture follows exactly one week later, on Sunday 30 August (16:00 CEST), at the Ulrich Haberland Stadium against last season’s runners-up, VfL Wolfsburg. Bayer 04 earned a 2-2 draw at FC Augsburg on Bundesliga Matchday 3 with a late equaliser. The Werkself led at half-time through Christian Kofane's strike but the hosts, who went in the game as league leaders, turned it around with a quickfire double from Michael Gregoritsch after the break. The Black-and-Reds didn't give up, though, and salvaged a point thanks to substitute Patrik Schick's flick in the 89th minute.
