The first performance diagnostics session on Monday 22 June will be followed the next day by the official start of pre-season training at the Kurtekotten Performance Centre. The first friendly will be played at the same venue on Saturday, 4 July (kick-off: 14:00 CEST) against Bundesliga newcomers FSV Mainz 05.
In mid-July, coach Roberto Pätzold's team will then complete a one-week training camp in Rieden in the Upper Palatinate, as they did last summer. After a week off training, part two of the pre-season for the new Bundesliga campaign will start on Monday 27 July, with the first matchday set to be played between 21 and 24 August.
New signing Miguel Gutiérrez has made a good start at Leverkusen and has promptly earned a nomination for Player of the Month in his first few weeks in the Bundesliga. He has scored one goal and provided three assists in four league games. The Spanish left-back has also brought some impressive stats with him to Bayer 04. Back from the international break: On Saturday 10 October (kick-off: 15:30 CEST), the Werkself are away to Mainz 05.
