The first performance diagnostics session on Monday 22 June will be followed the next day by the official start of pre-season training at the Kurtekotten Performance Centre. The first friendly will be played at the same venue on Saturday, 4 July (kick-off: 14:00 CEST) against Bundesliga newcomers FSV Mainz 05.
In mid-July, coach Roberto Pätzold's team will then complete a one-week training camp in Rieden in the Upper Palatinate, as they did last summer. After a week off training, part two of the pre-season for the new Bundesliga campaign will start on Monday 27 July, with the first matchday set to be played between 21 and 24 August.
Newly promoted SV 07 Elversberg will begin the 2026/27 season as Bundesliga club number 59. The Saarland club start their first Bundesliga campaign at home to the Werkself on Saturday, 29 August (kick-off 15:30 CEST) at the URSAPHARM Arena on Kaiserlinde, which is currently being rebuilt. Ernest Poku is leaving Bayer 04 Leverkusen to play in the Turkish Süper Lig. The club has loaned the Dutch winger to Beşiktaş for one year. If certain criteria are met, the Istanbul club – who finished fourth in the Turkish top flight last season – will be obliged to make the move permanent.
