Carlotta, how do you reflect on the dramatic semi-final exit against world champions Spain two days on? Is disappointment or pride the overriding feeling?
Wamser: "Spain were extremely strong and generated a lot of pressure with their possession play. We had to do a lot of running, which was tiring and also frustrating at times because we just couldn't get a foothold. Maybe we were still feeling the match against France with the long extra time, too. In the end, though, you have to say: Spain deserved to win, even though we had our chances. In any case, there's great pride about what we achieved as a team."
A great buzz around your team arose during the tournament. How did you personally experience that?
Wamser: "It was genuinely one of the most awesome experiences I've ever had. The stadiums were full for every match, the atmosphere was just unbelievable. You come out onto the pitch and there are thousands of people cheering you on. It was pure goosebumps every time. What happened online and all the messages we got - that was really special."

You were originally seen as back-up at right back, but were then thrust into the limelight by the injury to Giulia Gwinn and experienced an emotional few weeks. What's your personal review of the tournament?
Wamser: "I didn't expect to be thrown in at the deep end like that, it happened very suddenly. I just tried to do my best and support the team as well as possible. The fact I actually played in a European Championship and started in a semi-final still hasn't completely sunk in and probably won't for a few days. For me personally, it's been an incredibly emotional and intense experience."
You'll soon be starting the new season with Bayer 04. How are you spending the time until then and how do you feel looking ahead?
Wamser: "I'm on holiday for a few days in Ibiza now. Then I'll visit a few friends before pre-season starts soon. I'm really looking forward to the start with my new team and am really keen to achieve a lot with the girls."
