Former Germany international Carolin Simon rejoins Bayer 04

She has been playing at the absolute top level for years and is always successfully involved in attacking actions with her outstanding left foot,” said Achim Feifel, the Bayer 04 Women’s team sporting director: "With her wealth of experience and her personality, she will also help the young players in the team to develop further and play an important role for us.”

Simon has won the German league title five times since moving to Munich from Olympique Lyon in the summer of 2019, and she also won the DFB Pokal in 2024/25. In the current campaign, with FC Bayern winning their fourth championship title in a row last Wednesday and also reaching the DFB Pokal final again, she has made 14 Bundesliga appearances and played in four DFB Pokal ties. Born in Kassel, she played a total of 22 international matches for Germany between 2016 and 2023, including four at the 2019 World Cup. She has made 259 Bundesliga appearances (29 goals) to date, including 70 of those games in a Bayer 04 jersey from 2013 to 2016.

“I had really good talks with the people in charge, I'm keen to take on an extremely cool challenge and I'm definitely happy to be coming back to Leverkusen. I had a great time here back then and both the club and I have developed a lot since then,” says Simon: “I'm looking forward to seeing one or two familiar faces, but also to all the new impressions and experiences I'll gain. I'm expecting a young squad with a lot of potential and I want to help them become even more successful in a leadership role.”
