Eva van Deursen leaves Bayer 04 Women for Spain
Midfielder Eva van Deursen has left Bayer 04 Women to join Eibar in Spain.
The 24-year-old’s contract was expiring in the summer, with the club agreeing to release her now. Van Deursen had come to Leverkusen in summer 2023 from the Arizona State Sun Devils of the US National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The former Netherlands youth international made 16 Bundesliga appearances for Bayer 04. She has played five times this season, scoring one goal.
“Due to her limited playing time this season, we wanted to open the chance for Eva to play more frequently again,” said Achim Feifel, head of Bayer 04 Women. “We wish her all the best and much success.”

A first win in the preseason: In the last friendly before the start of a two-week break in training, the Bayer 04 Women beat top-flight Dutch side Ajax 1-0. In the match played over three 30-minute thirds Vanessa Fudalla scored the goal for the Werkself. In the previous two friendlies this summer, the team led by head coach Roberto Pätzold lost 2-0 two Bundesliga rivals TSG Hoffenheim and drew 1-1 with the Dutch team PEC Zwolle.

This event brought a broad smile to everybody's faces and once again demonstrated the commitment of Bayer AG and Bayer 04 in Brazil: On Thursday morning, club legend Paulo Sergio, former Leverkusen player Rodrigo Chagas, football influencer ‘Brabogordinho’ plus other Bayer 04 representatives took part in a training session with children from the region at the Bayer AG Football School in Belford Roxo north of Rio de Janeiro.
