DFB Cup: Bayer 04 Women at home to SC Sand
A swift reunion: The Bayer 04 Women face SC Sand in the semi-final of the DFB Cup on Sunday 16 April.
That was the outcome of the draw held on Monday evening. The two clubs last faced each other in the Bundesliga on the last weekend when Bayer 04 ended up losing 3-0.
The team coached by Malte Dresen now has an opportunity for revenge and the chance to reach the DFB Cup final for the first time. Dresen commenting on the draw: "SC Sand was the team we wanted in the draw. The whole squad is dreaming of the Cup final in Cologne. It definitely won't be easy as we saw in the league how dangerous Sand can be. We know we have to play better to beat Sand and will use that experience to win out at our home ground on 16 April."
The second semi-final sees holders VfL Wolfsburg take on SC Freiburg. That game will also be played on 16 April. Further details on the kick-off times and venues will be announced shortly. The final will be played in Cologne on 27 May.

In the long and renowned career of Jupp Heynckes his two years at Leverkusen fill a short chapter. Nevertheless, his work under the Bayer Cross between 2009 and 2011 left its mark. The former world class striker and coach with a worldwide reputation was also very successful here and he led the Werkself to the runners-up spot in the Bundesliga and he made a lasting impression on many people at the club. A cracker of a semi-final at the Ulrich Haberland Stadium. The Bayer 04 U19 team entertain Bayern Munich on Saturday, 10 May (kick-off: 11:00 CEST/stadium opens: 10:00 CEST). In front of a home crowd, the team led by head coach Sergi Runge, who welcomes back an attacking player, is looking to build on the battling performances from the previous knockout games and "perform at the right moment."
