Matysik joins Bayer 04 from the Polish champions Gornik Leczna. Playing for the Champions League participants, the midfielder has won the league title twice in the last two years and did the double in 2017/18 by winning the domestic cup competition. She was also champion of Poland with her first professional club KKPK Medyk Konin in 2014 and 2015 and she also played on the European stage with both Konin and Leczna in the Women's Champions League.
In addition, Matysik played for the Poland U17 and U19 teams, winning the gold medal at the European Championship with the U17s in 2013. She received her first full international call-up in 2018.
Head coach Achim Feifel on the new signing: "With the signing of Sylwia, we have brought a young Poland international with great potential into our team. She plays in central midfield, is very competitive, full of running and is very athletic. We're very much looking forward to working together."

23 Bayer 04 Women kick off preseason training
The Bayer 04 Women's squad have started preparing for the new season six weeks after their last Bundesliga match. In warm sunny weather, coach Roberto Pätzold welcomed 23 players back to the training ground at the Kurtekotten Performance Centre for the first training session – including two of the four new players.
