Bayer 04 agree new deal with central defender Lilla Turanyi

Central defender Lilla Turanyi is set to remain at Bayer 04 Leverkusen beyond the summer. The Hungary international has extended her contract under the Cross to 2027 with the option of an additional year. The 26-year-old defender has been at Leverkusen since 2020 and is thereby one the longest serving players in the squad.

"Lilla has been a reliable linchpin in our central defence for years," said Achim Feifel, sporting director of the Bayer 04 Women's team: "With her great experience, calm, winning mentality and absolute strength in challenges she really helps our defence and the whole team and she has played a significant part in our success this season."

Turanyi has played over 90 minutes in all twelve Bundesliga matches this season and scored one goal along the way. She has played a total of 98 games for the Werkself (four goals). Turanyi, who joined Leverkusen from the then runners-up MTK Hungaria Budapest, was voted Woman Player of the Year in her home country in 2022.

"I turned professional at Bayer 04, I’ve settled in really well in Leverkusen and I really feel at home here not least because my family often support me at the stadium," said Turanyi: "I've continued to develop on the pitch and as a person year-on-year. Our sporting success made the decision easier and we are aiming to achieve a lot together. I'd like to continue to help my team with my experience in the coming years."
