Over €1,000: U19s donate contents of last season's team kitty to ‘Wishes come true’ project

Charitable commitment under the cross: Bayer 04's U19s have donated the contents of their team kitty from the 2024/25 season to the charitable project ‘Wishes come true’. Defender Ferdinand Pohl, on behalf of the entire team, handed over a whopping €1,150 in the form of a symbolic cheque at the BayArena this week.

The Leverkusen U19s also used some of their current team kitty to do some good in the run-up to Christmas: The youth players had bought €500 worth of food, which they handed over to the Tafel Leverkusen e.V. food bank. A further donation was made by UEFA, which supports one social project per Youth League participant to the tune of €1,000.

About the ‘Wishes come true’ project:

The ‘Wishes come true’ project fulfils the final, usually long-cherished wishes of terminally ill patients - including many children. Professional care is provided by volunteers. Trips, excursions and visits to cultural events or places of interest are organised, as well as meetings with people who are important to the patients.
