Former Germany youth player Doğan moved up to the Leverkusen first team squad in 2000 after winning the Germany U19 league title with Bayer 04. He went on to play in Bundesliga 2 and the third division for many years including with Union Berlin and SC Paderborn.
After ending his playing career in 2018, the now 44-year-old took up coaching and in 2022/23 he led Wuppertaler SV to second place in the Regional League West.
