On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the ZONTA Club Leverkusen, which campaigns for women and girls in the metropolitan area of Leverkusen, has sent out an invitation for the dedication of the orange bench in Neuen Bahnstadt (Emmy-Noether Str./ Grete-Hermann Str.). Leverkusen's mayor Zöhre Demirci will give a short welcoming speech.
ZONTA Clubs will also install visible signs in orange in a large number of other German cities and communities. In addition, the clubs, as in Leverkusen, have installed orange benches – an invitation to stop and talk.
1,000 women in Leverkusen in 2022 sought help from the women's aid centre due to domestic violence. This advice centre against sexual violence annually holds around 450 counselling sessions and helps those affected in the search for a way out.

The ZONTA Club Leverkusen was founded in 1980 and is currently made up of 34 women who live and work in the Leverkusen metropolitan area. Their aim is to help and empower women and girls. That involves supporting special projects at local and international levels. The club advocates issues such as equal opportunity and freedom from violence and is also networked with a large number of other women's organisations.
