Women: Klink and Barth agree new deals

A clear commitment that sends out a signal: Anna Klink and Merle Barth have agreed contract extensions at Bayer 04 Women – regardless of the division the team under coach Verena Hagedorn are in next season.

"We are happy Anna and Merle have decided to stay at Bayer 04," said Linda Peckhaus, director of the Women's section.

Anna Klink (22) and Merle Barth, who celebrated her 23rd birthday on Friday, progressed through the youth teams at Bayer 04 and have been at the club since 2009. Both are regulars in the Bundesliga team with Klink in goal and Barth as a versatile player in defence, midfield and attack. On Sunday, the duo will be in the Leverkusen side in Sinsheim looking to pick up points against TSG Hoffenheim in the battle to stay in the top division of the Allianz Women's Bundesliga.
