Women: Jessica Wich suffers broken ankle

The Bayer 04 Women’s team will have to manage without their captain Jessica Wich at least up to the winter break. The 30-year-old suffered a broken ankle in last Sunday’s league game against TSG Hoffenheim (2-5). She will undergo an operation on Thursday.

Shortly before half-time in the clash with Hoffenheim at the Kurtekotten Performance Centre, Wich injured herself off the ball; she went off the pitch in pain. The Werkself Women were one player short up to half-time with the score at 0-0 with Henrietta Csiszár coming on for the captain in the second half.

Wich missed the first half of last season due to a torn cruciate. This term, the holding midfielder played in every game with the exception of the clash with VfL Wolfsburg.
