In a festive setting on Tuesday night, the city mayor Uwe Richrath welcomed 100 invited guests, including the former U17 Women's team and Senß plus a number of athletes from TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen. In a fireside chat with host Sebastian Hempfling, two Bayer 04 Women's team players shared their insights into the 2022/23 title winning season. Delice Boboy and Estrella Merino Gonzalez, now part of the first team squad in the Google Pixel Women's Bundesliga, looked back at their special triumph. The U17s, in their first such final in the club's history, were crowned the U17 Women's Champions of Germany in June following a 2-1 win in the final against SpVg Aurich.
Senß also contributed to the discussion. The 26-year-old, who made her first appearance for Germany in December last year, talked about her first days with the international team of the German Football Association (DFB) and the forthcoming Olympic qualifiers.
The U17 players and Senß were then one of five groups to have their names entered in the Golden Book of the City of Leverkusen. "Not everybody can say they are in this book. The honour was great fun in a brilliant setting," said Boboy. Teammate Moreno Gonzales added: "It's a great honour and it brought back a lot of brilliant memories of winning the title." Senß was happy about "special recognition for the performances produced last year."
Title-winning coach Vukicevic was also entered in the Golden book. "I think it's exceptional, I didn't expect it and I'm happy and proud that so many players from the old squad have come along." He saw the award as "something very special and great recognition for the achievement including for me as the coach."
