Bayer 04 sign centre-forward Irina Pando
The Bayer 04 Women have brought in a new striker. Irina Pando joins from Swiss top-flight club FC Luzern. The Switzerland international has penned a two-year deal.
The Werkself have secured the services of a prolific new signing in Pando. The 25-year-old scored 18 goals in 30 games in the Women’s Super League last season. She also won the domestic cup competition last term. Irina made her international debut for Switzerland in January of last year.
“With Irina Pando, we have succeeded in bringing in a proven, versatile and dangerous striker. Her athleticism and assertiveness as well as her experience will breathe new life into our attacking game,” said Bayer 04 head coach Achim Feifel.
Irina Pando is “really looking forward to the new challenge. I thank Bayer 04 Leverkusen for this wonderful opportunity. I’ve had a very warm and professional welcome. Bayer 04 are absolutely the right club for me. I’m more than happy to be able to take my next step here.”

‘I wear my favourite club on my chest’: Kids’ press conference with Oermann and Berghoff
After the children from the Bayer 04 Football Academy grilled Janis Blaswich and Simeon Rapsch last week, another group of 20 young Werkself fans gathered at the BayArena press conference room on Tuesday afternoon, 28 July . This time, the kids directed their questions at Tim Oermann and Jonah Berghoff. Defender Oermann raved about his school days, whilst talented midfielder Berghoff revealed to the young footballers, amongst other things, who his favourite player is – and he is also at Bayer 04. To round things off, the pair naturally obliged with all requests for autographs and selfies.

Log on and watch live: Stream Werkself pre-season games
Bayer 04 are back on the pitch. Following the first training sessions, the Werkself play the first pre-season friendly on Saturday, July 18. The match against Oberliga club Sportfreunde Baumberg kicks off at 15:30 CEST in Monheim am Rhein. Fans unable to attend the match can watch head coach Carles Martínez’s first game in charge for free via a livestream at bayer04.de and on the Bayer 04 app, as well as on Werkself.tv (exclusively for members). New season, improved catering: Enhanced service at the BayArena
Bayer 04 is redesigning the public catering at the BayArena and Ulrich-Haberland-Stadion for the start of the 2026/27 season. Together with new catering partner Aramark, processes will be developed and the service at the stadium will be improved in a targeted way.
