The venue for the Round of 16 second leg is a very special one: The Puskas Arena, Hungary's national stadium, was completed in November 2019 at a cost of €610 million. It is built on the site of the former Nep Stadium that had a capacity of over 100,000. Design elements were taken from the historic venue and the facade of the new stadium with its 40 metre high concrete elements is reminiscent of the previous structure. The stadium was the venue for three group matches and one Round of 16 tie in Euro 2021. The 67,155 capacity Puskas Arena is almost sold out for the clash between Ferencváros and Bayer 04. Moreover: The arena in Budapest is the venue for the Europa League final…

Speaking at the final session at the BayArena, Simon Rolfes answered questions from the media representatives present. The sporting managing director said regarding the second leg in Budapest: "We looking forward to the game. We can expect an atmospheric arena and that is exactly the European competition feeling you work for over the whole year. We want to win the game and go through to the next round – that's our aim."

In spite of the 2-0 win in the first leg against the Hungarian record champions and record cup winners, the 41-year-old was keen to emphasise that "nothing is decided as yet. The position is okay but we saw in the first leg that Ferencváros are a good team and they had their chances. There will give 100% and we have too as well."

Battling Werkself lose 2-0 in Athens

It was a disappointing night in Athens: The Werkself lost 2-0 away to Olympiacos on Matchday 7 in the league phase of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League campaign. In a match that was intense and fiery from the outset, the high-pressing home side made the better start and took the lead through Costinha on two minutes. Although the Werkself had a number of chances to equalise, the clinical Greek side increased the lead to 2-0 shortly before half-time (45+1’). In the second half, Leverkusen once again gave their all and showed total commitment but, despite their best efforts, the Black and Reds were unable to break down the Olympiacos defence on the night.
