The match against SG Sonnenhof Großaspach will be the first game for Bayer 04 in the 2025/26 campaign. Managing director sport Simon Rolfes shared his views on the draw: "We will definitely face a highly motivated opponent in SG Sonnenhof Großaspach and we will have to take them very seriously. We want to start the season with a win. Our target is to go a long way in this competition again."
The second round in the DFB Pokal is on 29/30 October, the Round of 16 ties will be played on 3/4 December. The quarter-finals follow on 4/5 and 25/26 February 2026. The semi-finals are due to be played on 1/2 April. The final at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin will be played on 24 May.
The German Football Association (DFB) has given Bayer 04 the Pitch of the Year award in the Google Pixel Women's Bundesliga for the 2024/25 season and thereby for the sixth time in succession. The Ulrich Haberland Stadium was once again named the best pitch in the Women's Bundesliga last season.

The Bayer 04 Women's squad have started preparing for the new season six weeks after their last Bundesliga match. In warm sunny weather, coach Roberto Pätzold welcomed 23 players back to the training ground at the Kurtekotten Performance Centre for the first training session – including two of the four new players.
