It is another milestone in the emotional Bayer 04 club history and an impressive sign of how deeply rooted Bayer 04 is in the city and the region but also throughout Germany and even abroad.
The development in membership numbers over the past months and years has been equally impressive as rapid: in October 2022, Bayer 04 had 30,000 members, and the 50,000 barrier was broken the start of April of this year. Now, just seven months later, the next record number has been achieved in the membership at Bayer 04 that started in 2002: 66,666!
A lot has happened since then – regionally, nationally and internationally: Around 44,000 members come from the region in and around Leverkusen including 12,000 from the city itself. Across Germany there are 16,000 members from national networks from outside North Rhine Westphalia.
And Bayer 04 now also has over 6,000 members outside the borders of Germany including members on every continent – an expression of the attraction of the club as well as the enormous breadth within the membership base.
"It's a development that makes us proud and makes us want to say thank you. To all members – whether young or old, a long-established fan or a brand-new member. It also serves as inspiration to always offer our members something special in the future," said Marc Jansen, head of membership at Bayer 04.
