The German double winners are thereby taking the next big step towards improved environmental and social sustainability. At the heart of the multi-layered partnership currently is the 'Lighthouse project' by LEDVANCE and Bayer 04: the replacement of floodlighting at the BayArena in Leverkusen.
"We were able to work with LEDVANCE in the first period of the partnership on lighting projects at the BayArena as well as around the stadium," said Markus Breglec, Bayer 04 chief marketing and innovation officer. "The continuation of the sustainability partnership in connection with the replacement of the whole floodlighting system at our home ground strengthens the joint endeavour and takes the BayArena up to a new level in terms of lighting technology."
Thomas Fobbe, as head of sales DACH at LEDVANCE GmbH: "We are very happy to continue the partnership on equal terms in the next few years to support Bayer 04 Leverkusen in sustainability issues in the area of lighting technology and photovoltaics. An absolute highlight for us is the decision for the stadium lighting, which with its lighting level exceeds the requirements of UEFA Elite Level A and will also additionally produce comprehensive lighting for the stadium and show effects."
The official premium and sustainability partner at Bayer 04 Leverkusen goes forward into the next three years from the start of the 2024/25 season with comprehensive and extended contractual rights. That includes commercial representation on TV relevant press walls as well as the LED display system above the pre-match and upper tier display at the BayArena. LEDVANCE will also be visible in the VIP areas the stadium at Werkself Bundesliga home matches. The portfolio is completed by hospitality services in the shape of a VIP box plus a range of benefits such as promotional activities at Bundesliga home games, digital rights and the right to use the facilities at the BayArena for business events. In addition, LEDVANCE will continue as a partner for the Bayer 04 Women and Bayer 04 youth teams.
The currently biggest joint project for Bayer 04 and LEDVANCE is the replacement of floodlighting at the BayArena. Work started at the end of May and the completion of the lighting system is planned for the end of July. A high performance, dimmable and multicoloured lighting system will be used to invigorate emotions through lighting effects. 324 spotlights to light the pitch, 60 Quattro spotlights in RGBW for lighting the stands as well as 36 illuminated roof sections will produce a completely new optical stadium experience. The renewal of the lighting will enable higher functionality and thereby more options in terms of changing colours, lighting levels and show effects.
