For the team under head coach Peter Bosz, it will be the first league match since the 4-0 home win against Eintracht Frankfurt on 7 March. The Werkself will be looking to build on a successful run of nine wins and one draw from the last ten matches on the visit to Bremen – albeit without spectators as will be the case for the rest of the season.
Fernando Carro, CEO at Bayer 04: "We are very grateful for the political decision to give the Bundesliga the green light. It's a great vote of confidence that we, as clubs with high professionalism, want and have to live up to with discipline and a sense of responsibility. As Bayer 04, we will do everything to implement the exceptional but necessary regulations relating to fixtures. Moreover, especially on the pitch as we look to end a season on a very positive note."
The Werkself have trained in small groups at Bismarckstraße since 1 April and the squad returned to full training today. One precondition is regular coronavirus testing in accordance with the medical concept of the Sports Medicine/Special Match Operations Task Force.

Ahead of the restart, all teams will have to spend one week at a quarantine training camp. The DFL are considering the possibility of five substitutes as approved by FIFA and free TV broadcasts are also planned. "We know we are imposing a lot on players, coaches and support staff. But these are special circumstances," said DFL CEO Christian Seifert after today's general meeting: Everybody is subject to the same framework. I'm expecting the best possible sport under these conditions."
Shortly after that, the pay-TV broadcaster Sky announced that the Saturday multi-game show on 16 and 23 May will be broadcast on free TV on Sky Sport News HD. SSNHD will also broadcast the second division games on 17 and 24 May free of charge.
