The Werkself will be looking to put the disappointment of Tuesday's 3-0 defeat at Juventus in the Champions League behind them. "We've used the last two days to analyse the game against Juventus but also look forward at the same time because we have another important game tomorrow against Leipzig," said the Werkself head coach at the pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon. According to Bosz, the clash with the highly-fancied Italian serial champions shows that every little mistake is punished at the top level. Now it's a question of turning it round. "We are fortunate to be able to play in the Champions League. Now we have to learn from big games like that and use the experience in the Bundesliga," said Bosz.
Ideally on Saturday. The Werkself are looking for the first Bundesliga home win against Leipzig at the fourth attempt. Momentum could well be on the side of the Black and Reds as the Red Bulls have struggled recently: Last weekend there was a 3-0 defeat at home to Schalke in the league that costed the Julian Nagelsmann's team top spot. And Wednesday saw another setback with a 2-0 defeat for RB Leipzig against Olympique Lyon. Peter Bosz did not venture an opinion on whether the two recent home defeats could make Leipzig susceptible. "Of course, if you lose twice at home in succession then you feel different than after two wins but Leipzig are still a good team," said Bosz. However, the primary aim for Bayer 04 is to focus on their own performance.
In addition to Leon Bailey (muscle injury), Lars Bender is also unavailable tomorrow. The Werkself number eight suffered an injury in the warm-up in Turin on Tuesday and on Thursday it was unclear whether there was a more serious muscle problem. Peter Bosz has ruled out an appearance against RB Leipzig and the hope is the Werkself skipper will be back again after the international break.
There's no question: VfB Stuttgart are one of the biggest surprises of this season and have delighted their fans with exciting, successful attacking football. After suffering a rare defeat at Bremen last weekend, third-placed VfB are looking to get back to winning ways in this Saturday's big match against the Werkself (kick-off 18:30 CEST). The visitors will be without their playmaker in midfield, though. A look at our next opponents...
