The German Football League (DFL), in association with video game manufacturer Electronic Arts (EA), has announced the nominations for the vote for Bundesliga Player of the Month in March. The nominees include two top Leverkusen players in Jeremie Frimpong and Exequiel Palacios .
Frimpong has scored seven goals for the Werkself this term including strikes in both the 4-1 win against Hertha Berlin as well as the 3-2 victory at Werder Bremen. The Argentina World Cup winner Palacios scored twice from the penalty spot in the most recent 2-1 home win against Bayern Munich leading to the seventh win in succession across all competitions for the Werkself. In addition to the two Leverkusen players, Raphael Guerreiro (Borussia Dortmund), Erhan Masovic (VfL Bochum), Marius Bülter (Schalke 04) and Omar Marmoush (VfL Wolfsburg) have also been nominated.
The results are made up of the following: 40% from fans, plus 30% each from the captains of the 18 Bundesliga teams as well as a panel of pundits. The vote for the #BundesligaPOTM ends on Sunday 2 April at 23.59 CEST.
It has been a long time since feeling what it’s like to come away empty-handed. The last – and so far only – defeat of the season, in Elversberg, was two months ago. Since then, Bayer 04 have followed that up with seven wins and a draw. Now it has happened again away to TSG Hoffenheim. As the match progressed, the Werkself grew in confidence and “could even have scored the opening goal”, as Robert Andrich said after the game. After nine points from their first three away matches of the 2026/27 season, the Bayer 04 Women suffered their first away defeat on Sunday afternoon. The 2-0 defeat away to FC Nürnberg, who were winless before today, represented a setback for coach Roberto Pätzold’s team in the race for the top spots in the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga. Fany Pronietz scored both goals (62’, 85’) for the home side.
