Two Saturday night games for the Werkself
The German Football League (DFL) has confirmed the timings for the first six matchdays in the new Bundesliga campaign. The Werkself have two Saturday night top games.
The Werkself kick off the new season with the top game on matchday 1 away to Rhine rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach and the home game against Borussia Dortmund is also on a Saturday night. The away fixture at the champions of Germany Bayern Munich is on a Saturday afternoon. The Rhine clash at Fortuna Düsseldorf is on the Wednesday after the Herrlich team are at home to Mainz on a Sunday.

Matchday 1: Saturday, 25 August, 18.30 CET: Borussia M'gladbach v Bayer 04
Matchday 2: Saturday, 1 September, 15.30 CET: Bayer 04 v VfL Wolfsburg
Matchday 3: Saturday, 15 September, 15.30 CET: FC Bayern Munich v Bayer 04
Matchday 4: Sunday, 23 September, 15.30 CET: Bayer 04 v FSV Mainz 05
Matchday 5: Wednesday, 26 September, 18.30 CET: Fortuna Düsseldorf v Bayer 04
Matchday 6: Saturday, 29 September, 18.30 CET: Bayer 04 v Borussia Dortmund
A week ahead of the Bundesliga start, the Werkself are away to Oberliga side CfR Pforzheim in the First Round of the DFB Cup (Saturday, 18 August, 15.30 CET). The first matchday in the group stage of the Europa League is on Thursdays (20 September) between matchdays 3 and 4.

U20 World Cup: Sarco continues dream start
Alejo Sarco and Argentina won their second group match at the U20 World Cup in Chile on Wednesday night. They beat Australia 4-1 with Sarco setting the tone early with a goal in the third minute. As in the first group game against Cuba, where Sarco scored twice, the 19-year-old was also named "Player of the Match" against Australia.

1-1 against PSV - Werkself miss out on victory in first UCL home game
Second game, second draw in the UEFA Champions League 2025/26: The Werkself were held to a 1-1 draw by Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven on matchday two in the league phase. After an early but brief setback in the form of an offside goal by Ivan Perisic for the visitors (5'), the Werkself took control and created numerous good chances in the first half. Leverkusen took a deserved lead after the break in the 65th minute through Christian Kofane. However, PSV's Ismael Saibari replied a few minutes later to level at 1-1 (72').

Bayer 04 3:2 PSV - U19s win second Youth League match
Bayer 04 beat PSV Eindhoven 3-2 on matchday two to clock up the next three points in the UCL Youth League 2025/26. In front of just under 500 spectators at the Ulrich Haberland Stadium, the visitors from the Netherlands led at half-time, but the Werkself turned the game round in the second 45. That makes it two wins on the bounce after the victory in Copenhagen.
