Undefeated in Sinsheim
Bayer 04 have played at Hoffenheim eight times in the Bundesliga - and the Werkself have gone those eight games without losing. No other team has won as often at TSG. The matches to date have produced six wins and two draws.
TSG unbeaten at home
Hoffenheim are flying high this season: Only Bayern Munich (one defeat) have lost less in the Bundesliga than Hoffenheim (two defeats). TSG, along with Bayern and Borussia Dortmund, are the only teams in the league unbeaten at home (seven wins and five draws). With three victories at home in succession Hoffenheim are looking at the longest run in the Bundesliga since the autumn of 2008 when they clocked up six home wins on the bounce.
Flourishing striker
Kevin Volland, who used to play for TSG, is back on form. With his goals at Dortmund and against Bremen he scored twice in succession in the Bundesliga for the first time. In his time at Hoffenheim between 2012 and 2016 he scored 33 goals in 132 league games. Hoffenheim's Andrej Kramaric, with eight goals to his credit, is second highest goalscorer behind Sandro Wagner (ten goals) - who has gone five games without scoring. In his last four games he scored four times and has been involved in seven goals in his eight Bundesliga outings this term (five goals, two assists).
(Pending) bans
Both teams are missing a regular first choice in this weekend’s game. For the hosts, Kevin Vogt is serving a one-match ban. Bayer 04 will be without Wendell after he received his marching orders against Werder Bremen. Charles Aránguiz, Lars Bender and Ermin Bicakic (TSG) are all on four bookings.
Korkut at TSG
In addition to Kevin Volland, Tayfun Korkut also has an association with Hoffenheim. Our head coach was at TSG in the 2009/10 season when he coached the U17 side. The Swiss midfielder Pirmin Schwegler has played for both Leverkusen and Hoffenheim. He was at the Werkself from 2006 to 2009 and has played for TSG since the summer of 2014.
